Vancouver Film Festival 2023, A campaign evolution of the core brand DNA.

For the 2023 Vancouver Film Festival campaign direction, we wanted to expand upon the 3D creative direction that was done for 2022. One big thing we wanted to bring to the forefront was even more of the VIFF brand DNA, by integrating the brand shapes in an interesting and dynamic way. This helps to reinforced the VIFF brand in new but consistent ways as the festival continues to grow.
On top of being able to create interesting close crops for texture and visual interest, we were easily pull the camera out and explore what this looked like from a variety of angles. This also allowed us to pull out “VIFF”, whether using motion or shadows.
As the festival identity continues to grow and evolve, it was important to consider how the campaign could be applied to a variety of formats. Outside of just the poster design, we imagined how the campaign could be carried over a variety of assets, ranging from digital to print.
