Vancouver Film Festival 2025, Connecting global cinema through tactility and joy.
What We Did

The Challenge
For the 44th Vancouver International Film Festival, ZAK was tasked with evolving the visual language we’ve developed over the previous years. We needed a core concept that didn’t just market a schedule of films, but celebrated the festival’s role as a vital connector between local audiences and global stories.
The Strategy: Spatial Bridges
We landed on the big idea of “Spatial Bridges”. In a world of increasing digital noise and peak slop, we saw the festival as a powerful symbol of connection; different elements coming together to form a passage from one place to another. These bridges are both literal and emotional, representing the pathways cinema creates between cultures and perspectives.
The Visual Language: Digital Tactility
Building on our previous work, we moved away from flat graphics toward a richer sense of depth. By exploring new textures, finishes, and materiality, we grounded the 2025 visuals firmly in the physical world.
The Impact
The VIFF 2025 campaign lived across the city and the screen, from large-scale environmental graphics to tiny digital ads. By prioritizing a visual campaign that feels contemporary and artful, we were confidently stepping in a new direction while carrying a sense of positivity and joy.
